Alloy 20 (UNS N08020) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum stainless steel alloy that was developed for applications involving acid attack, specifically sulfuric acid. Alloy 20 tubing resists pitting and chloride ion corrosion and its copper content protects it from sulfuric acid better than a conventional stainless steel such as 316.

Alloy 20 tubing displays good resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in sulfuric acid while also exhibiting superior general corrosion resistance. The chemical composition of Alloy 20 tubing provides for excellent mechanical properties and fabricability, including minimal carbide precipitation during welding.
